The Airdrie Children's Festival wants children to be willing to experiment, celebrate, cultivate and grow their character. Children that will thrive by building connections with those that are both similar and diverse in cultural background.
A group of local Airdrians noticed a gap in our community with respect to learning opportunities for kids (outside of their everyday schooling) that would inspire them to reach for great things and encourage them to be curious and creative. We saw other cities had these opportunities and we wanted this for Airdrie too. We wanted to see an event that allowed for inclusion of others who might not ordinarily get involved.
Thus, the Airdrie Children’s Festival Society was founded in 2018. Our event features four distinct fun and learning components – the Children’s Village, an interactive fun and play area; the Inspiration Stations, interactive learning centres; Main Stage Entertainment featuring professional children’s entertainers; and City-Wide Workshops.
"We want kids attending this event to have fun, be captivated and curious, ” said Pete Lewis, founder. “We want young people to not only have fun, but also to see opportunities for their futures. We want them to know they can aspire to be biologists, aircraft technicians, farmers, or any other career they choose. ”
